Washington, D.C.

When traveling, I stopped by Washington, D.C.  (,_D.C.)

The architecture was breathtaking…

I visited the Smithsonian’s  National Museum of American History.(

A lot of the exhibits were interesting.  One of my favorites was the lunch counter from the Greensboro Lunch Counter Sit-In (February 1, 1960).  (

Washington state – Elk

Traveled to a small area just north of Spokane, Washington – at the western edge of the state.  (,_Washington)

Walked down a road to Reflection Lake – a private lake near the house where I was staying.

ElkWA05112014 (22)

The lake was man-made.   I was told a story that Bing Crosby had a home along the body of water that ran through the area.  He decided to damn it off, so that we could fish on the lake.   (I searched the internet to find out if it were true, but nothing turned up.)

The lake is magnificent to behold.  I took a stroll around it.  Gorgeous!

Washington state – Bainbridge Island

I traveled to Bainbridge Island in the Puget Sound area of Washington state.  It is located just west of Seattle.  (,_Washington)

It was a gloomy, overcast day.  I jumped in my car and took a drive to nowhere on the southern part of the Island.

Found an interesting looking, little trail headed down to the water, so I followed it….

Washington State – Port Townsend

My adventures took me to Washington state to Port Townsend.  It’s a cute, nice small city (of approximately 9000 residents), west of Seattle in the Olympic Peninsula.  (,_Washington)

I stopped by to visit my cousin.  Even though my cousin and I grew up in the northeastern USA, we have both found homes in the Northwestern USA.  We love it out here!

I fell in love with city’s vibrant, cute downtown shops and downtown’s proximity to the water.  Walk behind the buildings on one side of the main street and you are on the shore!
