Oregon – Northern Valley – Sunsets

I love a good sunset!

These sunsets were photographed in 1998 around the Portland and Salem area.  I used film and printed by hand on photographic paper – the old fashioned way.  (A scanned copy is shown below.)

Oregon – Portland area – Fireworks

On July 4th, 1998, I was sitting in my apartment and heard loud bangs.  I looked out the window and say gorgeous fireworks in the sky.  So I jumped in the car and chased the lights.  About a half mile away was a large fireworks display.

(These images were developed the old fashion way and printed on paper.  Below are scans of these photographs.)

Florida – Orlando – Universal Studios Theme Park

Yesterday, I visited the Universal Studios in Orlando.   (https://www.universalorlando.com/Home.aspx & http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Orlando,_Florida)

The E.T. Adventure Ride was nice.   The ride gave me the impression of being on a bicycle.  My favorite part was when we floated over a city.  Very cool!

The Simpsons Ride was my favorite.  The virtual reality-type experience was thrilling!

Florida – Tampa – Tampa Theater

Last night, I volunteered at the Tampa Theater.  They were having their annual “Hollywood Awards Night” (on the night of the Academy Awards telecast).    (http://www.artstampabay.com/event/detail/441900515)

TampaTheaterOscars2015 (28)

It was a great event.  There was lots of Hollywood-like flash and energy.  People dressed  up and walked the red carpet.

The theater was built in the 1920s.  It is an elaborate masterpiece of design.  (http://tampatheatre.org/ & http://tampatheatre.org/faqs/)

I entered the Tampa Theater after the Academy Awards telecast had started.   As a result, my photographs were taken in very low light, without a tripod.  I apologize for the less than stellar quality pictures.  However, even in bad light and blurry, the theater still shows its beauty.

The main floor –

In the balcony, I saw a magnificent scene.  The best I can describe it is as a town-like scene and a blue (sky) ceiling with small lights (to look like stars).

Florida – Anna Maria Island

Yesterday, I traveled to Manatee Beach on Anna Maria Island.  (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anna_Maria_Island)

It was a cold noon time, with the temperature between 45 and 50 degrees Fahrenheit.  The beach is usually very crowded, but yesterday, there were few people.  Everyone I met was a visitor from cold country (northern Illinois, Colorado, near Minneapolis,  Niagara Falls, Ft. Wayne, Rapid City, Vermont, and Buffalo).  They said they would gladly accept a cold day in Florida over the ridiculously cold temperatures they left back home.  (Most people mentioned temperatures below zero!)

The sun was shining and the beach was lovely….

All over the USA – a hodgepodge of images and stories

I love dandelions.  (Taken in Viroqua, Wisconsin)

On my way back from Nehalem (on the Oregon coast), I pass by these signs.  I love the way the  “sunken grade” sign has sunken….

In my friend’s driveway (in Peebles, Ohio) was a school bus.  Not an old, out of commission bus, but a real one.  She is a bus driver and that’s where the bus is parked at night….

I loved the beauty of the textures and colors in this rock wall (in the Gainesville, Georgia area).

The Tampa Bay area (in Florida) is a very windy place in winter.

I was at a music performance in Mohler, Oregon when I saw the lights.

Every year, the small town of Manzanita, Oregon hosts a large July 4th parade.  Starting the night before, people set their chairs up and leave them.  By parade time, there are hardly any spots to be found.

My 5 and 7 year old friends and I like to give flowers a little more life when they are wilting.  So we remove their stems, fill their “Kiddie pool” with water, and place the flowers in.  We call it the “flower pond.”
