My favorite thing about traveling on Interstate 10 through Louisiana is the raised highway (called the Atchafalaya Basin Bridge – see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atchafalaya_Basin_Bridge)
The raised highway/bridge is a little more than 18 miles long. It’s a beautiful area and fun to drive.
I stopped at the Welcome Center along the bridge. It was recommended that I go down to the boat launch area nearby. To my delight, the boat launch is one end of the body of water that runs under the raised highway – between the two directions of travel.
